What does "Healing" mean at Heal Goood?
At Heal Goood, we believe healing is a radical act in an oppressive system. In a world that constantly tells us to keep pushing, overworking, and ignoring our needs, we choose differently. Healing is the conscious choice to slow down, move with intention, and nurture your mind, body, and spirit. Here, movement and stillness are equally valued.

What types of classes do you offer?
Each class is designed to work your body, mind, and soul. Some will leave you with a healthy sweat, others may stir emotions, and many will leave you with a renewed sense of confidence and calm.
Some of our classes blend multiple elements, while others focus on traditional forms. All are guided by breath and mindfulness. We offer:Yoga – grounding, flowing, or restorative
Mat Pilates – low-impact full body strength & stability
Somatics – movement for emotional release & body awareness
Low-impact strength training – functional and sustainable
Dance interval training – playful, rhythmic, and energizing
Deep stretching – to release tension and improve mobility -
Who are our classes for?
Healing is for everyone. Our classes are especially welcoming to those seeking a safer, inclusive space to move, those who value diversity and body positivity, and anyone looking to release stress. If you care about vibes, ambiance, and thoughtfully curated music (no generic gym beats here), you’ll feel at home. Our community is for people who value connection over competition, and who want to experience holistic wellness that works on both mind and body.
-
Are classes challenging?
They can be at times — but we meet you where you are and guide you through each experience.
Challenge can mean different things for different people. For some, looking inward is the hardest part. For others, it’s the physical effort. We encourage you to honour your unique experience, and offer variations for both beginner and intermediate levels in every class. Our goal is to support your growth without pressure or performance. Often times, confronting challenge is where we increase our confidence. -
Why does nervous system regulation matter?
Your nervous system plays a central role in how your body responds to stress. Chronic stress can keep you stuck in “fight, flight, or freeze” mode, impacting your mood, energy, digestion, immunity, and overall well-being. Our classes use evidence-based techniques such as breathwork, somatic movement, and rhythmic motion to activate the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) response — helping your body and mind return to balance.
-
What should I wear?
Anything comfortable that allows you to move freely. Most classes are done barefoot or in grippy socks. Layers are encouraged so you can stay warm during slower practices or cool during more active ones.
-
Who is welcome at Heal Goood?
Everyone is welcome here. We are a Black woman-owned, LGBTQIA+ friendly studio that welcomes all genders, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. We acknowledge that Heal Goood Studios is located on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. While our classes are inclusive to all, we occasionally host women-only or men-only workshops to create focused spaces of connection.
-
Are your classes for adults only?
Our classes are designed for adults (18+). Teens may attend if accompanied by an adult — please contact us first so we can ensure the class is the right fit.
-
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the class start time will result in a late cancellation fee. No-shows will be charged a $10 fee. This policy ensures fairness and respect for those on the waitlist.
-
What happens if I'm running late?
Out of respect for the experience, some classes may have the door locked after 15 minutes. If you’re running late, please let us know. Late arrivals may be subject to a late fee.
-
How early can I show up?
We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early to settle. In certain cases, the door may be locked earlier if another class is in session — we’ll let you inside as soon as the class finishes up.
Please note that all classes must be booked at least 90 minutes prior to class start-time through momence. -
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
Sadly, no. We are located on the third floor of a heritage building with stair access only. We apologize for any inconvenience.
-
Will there be scents or sounds?
Yes — at Heal Goood, we create a multi-sensory environment to support your wellness experience. You might notice intentional music selections (think R&B, lo-fi, Afrobeats, soulful instrumentals — never generic gym beats) and gentle aromatherapy such as essential oils or incense.
We’re mindful that everyone has different sensitivities, so scents are used sparingly and with care. If you have allergies, asthma, or scent sensitivities, please let your instructor know before class so we can make adjustments for your comfort.
Our music and aromatherapy are chosen to deepen the sense of safety, presence, and grounding in your practice — helping you feel more connected to yourself and the moment.
-
Will there be any hands-on adjustments?
Some classes may include optional hands-on assists or reiki. Instructors will always ask for your consent beforehand — you can accept or decline at any time with no pressure. If you prefer not to be touched, let the teacher know at the start.
